After weeks of speculation and an official ESRB rating, Tecmo has finally decided to confirm its up-and-coming remake of its classic football franchise. Tecmo Bowl Throwback is set for release this spring on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, bringing a plethora of options, including online play, a variety of teams (non-NFL, since EA Sports holds the exclusive license sorry) and other cool customization goodies. You can also switch between classic 2-D and revamped 3-D visuals (ala Tecmo Bowl on SNES and Genesis) at any time! Look for a preview within the next few weeks, and let's get ready for some football!
Oh, and development is being handled by Southend Interactive, the same team behind Lode Runner and R-Type Dimensions. So it's in good hands and not the same people who did, say, Tecmo Bowl on the PlayStation. Yeck.
