NHL 2K11 Exclusively Coming To Nintendo Wii This Year

So the verdict is finally in on the future of 2K Sports' NHL franchise.  It lives, but only to a limited capacity.  The company has announced during its financial meeting today that NHL 2K11 is in the works, but only for the Nintendo Wii platform this year.  The series is officially on hold for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, until 2011 rolls around.

2K Sports President Ben Feder said, "We’re taking the year off on our PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. We’re doing that because we’re so committed to competing and winning, and we think those platforms need a breather so we can go back to redesign and rethink as opposed to continuing to iterate."

"We're committed to competing and winning," said Take-Two CEO Ben Feder during a question and answer session with analysts discussing the company's first quarter fiscal 2010 results.  "We think as a result of that [extra development time] the following year we'll just come back a lot stronger."

We'll hopefully have some details on the upcoming Wii version soon.  Hey, it beats nothing at all, right?
