Although we're not a big fan of in-game advertising, it's a trend that we've come to accept in the more recent game releases. And that trend isn't slowing down anytime soon. The ad firm of Double Fusion recently signed a deal with 2K Sports to implement advertising in both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases of NHL 2K10 and NBA 2K10. The ads won't distract from the sports action, however, and will blend in with the overall game experience.
"Extending our dynamic advertising relationship with 2K Sports is a testament to the growing importance of in-game advertising and the value Double Vision delivers for its publishing partners," said Double Fusion CEO Jonathan Epstein. "The franchises included in this agreement provide a tremendous opportunity for brands to reach an enthusiastic audience of sports fans, much like they would try to do during actual sporting events, with the added bonus of being able to implement targeted campaigns quickly and effectively."
So, there you go. No word yet if this advertising deal would affect future releases, like Major League Baseball 2K10, but we're sure the two companies already have some ideas circling for that particular product.
